5-10-20 Street

Those looking for a bargain may well be familiar with the plethora of stores where ‘everything sells for two, five, ten or 20 riyals'.

You can find them in many main shopping areas of Riyadh and inside you will find incredibly cheap clothing, kitchen ware, perfumes, bathroom supplies and almost anything else you might be in search of.

One road that seems to have more than its fair share of these stores is known as 5-10-20 street (actually it's called Al Turmethi) and it can be found in the Al Badr district in the south west of the city near to Ash Shafa.

Not all the stores have a large 5, 10 or 20 riyal sign on their shop front. Some have names that translate as “Come!” or “As you like it”, but they all have one thing in common. If you’re a glutton for bargains, you simply cannot do better.

Take a drive all the way down King Fahd Highway until you reach the Khaj / Dirab / Makkah flyover, and take the Dirab exit. At the second set of traffic lights turn left, then cross three sets of traffic lights and pass an Othaim store on your left. Very soon almost every shop you see will be one of these cut price stores.
